Mirror of Humility and Purity

1 May

The Scapular is a mirror of the humility and purity of Mary:  through her simplicity she invites us to live modestly and in purity.  By wearing the Scapular day and night, it becomes a sign of our constant prayer and of our special dedication to the love and service of the Virgin Mary.

Safety Under Her Mantle

18 Apr

“We pray to Our Lady to protect us, and in times of spiritual turbulence the safest place is under the mantle of Our Lady.  She is the mother who takes care of the Church.  And in this time of martyrs, she is the protagonist, the protagonist of protection:  She is the Mother. (…) Let us state with faith:  ‘Mother, the Church is under your protection:  Care for the Church.’ ”   - Pope Francis, From his homily  04/15/2013

God Alone!

23 Mar

What ill or evil, Lord, can harm
This joyous heart that You alone can charm?
I love You more with every breath
So how can I fear life or death?
To love You, Father, is to live and sing
The songs the angels sing their King.
God alone in every cell of me!
God alone! For all eternity!
- St Louis Marie de Montfort

Those who wear …

19 Mar

Those who wear the Scapular are thus brought into the land of Carmel, so that they may “eat of its fruits and its good things” (cf.Jer 2:7), and experience the loving and motherly presence of Mary in their daily commitment to be clothed in Jesus Christ and to manifest him in their life for the good of the Church and the whole of humanity (cf. “Formula of Enrolment in the Scapular”,cit.).

Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel

16 Jul

On this wonderful day, let us pray,

O Most Holy Mother of Mount Carmel, when asked by a saint to grant privileges to the family of Carmel, you gave assurance of your Motherly love and help to those faithful to you and to your Son.
Behold us, your children.
We glory in wearing your holy habit, which makes us members of your family of Carmel, through which we shall have your powerful protection in life, at death and even after death.
Look down with love, O Gate of Heaven, on all those now in their last agony!
Look down graciously, O Virgin, Flower of Carmel, on all those in need of help!
Look down mercifully, O Mother of our Savior, on all those who do not know that they are numbered among your children.
Look down tenderly, O Queen of All Saints, on the poor souls!
Our Lady of Mount Carmel, pray for us.
